Emergency Car Kit Essentials

How to make an emergency 72-hour car kit

If you’ve ever taken a winter road trip, you know how quickly the road
conditions can change.
The winds can kick up, and suddenly the snow is blowing across the pavement,
making the lanes difficult to see, and the potential for black ice to increase.
The key to driving in the winter is to be prepared, and the best way to do that
is by creating an emergency kit for your car. Here are some things to include:

1. Shovel

A shovel comes in handy if your vehicle becomes stuck.

2. Spare tire, lug wrench and jack,

The last thing you want to deal with when you’re stranded in your vehicle is a flat tire,
and the jack or lug wrench is nowhere to be found. Make sure the tire is full and in
good condition, and the jack is well lubed.

3. Rope, bungee cords and tie downs

Make sure there are no knots, and the cords are in good condition.

4. Portable radio

A portable radio comes in handy when severe weather strikes.

Find one that is battery operated or uses a crank.

5. Flashlight

Spend a few extra bucks to get a decent flashlight that can illuminate

a good distance.

6. Extra batteries

Have an assortment of extra batteries on hand, including AAA, AA and 9v.

7. Road flares

You can buy road flares at any auto parts store or department store.

8. Ice scraper

An ice scraper with a brush on the end can help you clear snow from

your car during a blizzard.

9. Jumper cables

You never know when you’ll need jumper cables, or when you drive

by someone else who does!

10. Portable power source

You can find a portable power supply like this one on Amazon.

11. Orange/Yellow safety vest

When whiteout conditions exist, you need to make every effort to be seen.

12. Notebook and pen

If you need to leave your car during a storm, you can write down

your personal information.

13. Cash

If severe weather strikes and phone or internet lines go down, paying cash

for gasoline might be your only option.

14. Lighter or matches

Pair these with an emergency candle.

15. Microfiber towels

Microfiber is super absorbent, and can handle spills (or wet hands)

before they turn to ice.

16. First aid kit

A well-stocked first aid kit is a must for any winter driving.

17. Toilet paper or tissues

If you have kids, you’ll be glad you included these.

18. Emergency contact information

If you get stranded in a snowstorm, write your family and friends’

contact information down for first responders.

19. Warm clothing

Include fleece jackets, outer shells, thermal underwear, wool socks

and extra gloves.

20. Thermal blanket

You can pick up a reflective blanket at any department or outdoor

equipment store.

21. Water bottle

A good, sturdy water bottle like a Nalgene container will store water

without leaking.

22. Water purifier

If you need to fill your water bottle from a nearby river or lake,

a water purifier or filtration system should remove a majority of the contaminates.

23. Snacks

Include granola bars and other non-perishable items for food.

24. Small fire extinguisher

A small fire extinguisher can help you avoid an even bigger disaster,

if your engine overheats.

25. Extra medication

Along with your regular prescriptions, include medicine for headaches

and other minor ailments.

Gas - Fuel SAVING Systems-The "How & Why" of Hydrogen

Fuel/Gas SAVING Systems

There are numerous benefits from the use of hydrogen as fuel in your vehicle.
The most notable is an increase in horsepower and up to a 50% decrease in harmful green house gas emissions, as well as 30% to 50% increase in fuel efficiency.
1) Acts as a solvent to cleanse out all the gunk and carbon build-up from the petroleum based fuel used in our engine.
2) Reduce the engine temperature and result in a more complete burn than conventional gas or diesel fuels.
3) They improve gas mileage!

4) They clean out carbon deposits out of your engine!

5) Increase to the equivalent of 120 octane booster to your air/fuel mix!

6) Increases horsepower!

7) Will NOT damage your engine.
What makes our Hydrogen Fuel Systems better than the rest?

That’s a good question! We get asked that from people all the time that   are searching the Internet trying to find the best hydrogen generator for their vehicle.
There are many good companies working with this technology, unfortunately, there are also a lot of backyard engineers trying to separate you from your hard earned money.
We want to educate you with the differences between companies so that you have all of the facts to make a good decision on what hydrogen system is best for you and your vehicle.
The new On-Demand hydrogen generators have become a viable option for vehicle owners everywhere who want to reduce the cost of fueling their vehicles, increase their horsepower and lower emissions.

We also provide our customers a lifetime supply of Electrolyte to be used as a catalyst when mixed with water.
We also offer the industry’s only Lifetime Warranty on our product. What does that mean to you? It means 3, 5, or 10 years down the road if your system ever breaks, leaks, wears out, stops working, etc… If we can’t repair it like new, we will send you out a new unit. Now that is great customer service and confidence in our product.
We want to earn your business by providing you with a great quality product along with world class customer service.
Our commitment and promise to you, the consumer, is to always keep quality and safety as our top priority before profit. Our systems are an on demand hydrogen fuel cell and only produce hydrogen when you need it. No storage tanks, for the safety of you and your passengers.
We dedicate our research and resources towards developing a product that stands for safety, quality, and durability.

If you're just beginning your search into the hydrogen On-Demand technology you are probably going to have many questions, so please take your time browsing through our site and feel free to give us a call us with any questions that you might have. We have a great crew that is standing by and happy to assist you.

That being said, let me explain why a Hydrogen Generator system works!
First you need to understand that the Hydrogen isn’t supposed to replace the gasoline in your vehicle, it’s supposed to assist the gasoline.
It’s well known that an Internal combustive engine only has about a 40% efficient fuel burn and 50-70% of the fuel (gas or diesel) that you purchase is un-burned during the combustion process. Diesel engines normally expel this un-burned fuel directly out of the exhaust pipe. On gasoline engines this un-burned fuel goes into the catalytic converter, where it is re-burned and wasted. To make matters even worse, the constant build up of this un-burned fuel (inside the catalytic converter) restricts the flow of exhaust, which ultimately wastes even more fuel.
Hydrogen has a faster flame speed than gasoline and will act as a catalyst to help the gasoline burn more cleanly and completely. This is why only a small amount of hydrogen is needed.

A small amount of hydrogen causes a chain reaction with gasoline which burns more completely with less carbon deposits and runs cooler than without Hydrogen.
tank

Now, let me explain
how a Hydrogen Generator system works!
Through the process of electrolysis, we run a small amount of electrical current through your cars battery into the hydrogen generator which will separate the water into its basic elements, Hydrogen and Oxygen (HHO). Then it will inject this hydroxy gas into your vehicles engine intake through a vacuum hose (which is included with our systems) thru your vehicle's air intake system, where the Hydroxy gas is combined with your vehicle's ordinary fuel/air mixture.

By mixing this hydroxy gas with your regular fuel, the combustion efficiency is greatly improved resulting in a substantial increase in fuel economy up to 50% or more.
By converting water into its basic elements Hydrogen and Oxygen (HHO) and then combining those elements with your regular fuel, you can achieve anywhere from 10-50% better gas mileage and reduce harmful emissions by up to 90%. Our hydrogen generators are designed to work with ANY internal combustion engine and can be used with ANY type of fuel.
Once the HHO gas is in the engine, it will help increase the flame spread during the combustion process. The Hydroxy gas will make the flame in your engine burn faster. In other words, all of the gas that you are putting into your cars gas tank is being used to power your car, and not being lost as unused waste out of your exhaust pipe

The Bulletproof Suit-Wow!

Featuring: The Bulletproof Suit By Garrison Bespoke

This past year, Garrison Bespoke worked alongside suppliers for the US 19th Special Forces in developing the custom bullet-proof suit. Using nanotechnology, it’s comprised of the same carbon nanotubes designed for the US troops’ uniforms in Iraq. Yet, the patented suit material is a lot thinner and flexible; fifty percent lighter than Kevlar (the material commonly used in bullet-proof gear). The entire suit acts like a shield, with nanotubes in the fabric hardening to block force from penetrating through.

The Garrison Bespoke bullet proof suit was made to fulfill three important expectations: First, to be modern and stylish. Second, to be light and comfortable. And, third, to be reliable and safe. After putting the suit to test, we can proudly say that all expectations have been met.

The Garrison bullet proof suit is a testament to the level of care we place in building relationships and trust with our clients—we’re eager to respond to each of our clients’ individual needs, whenever we can.

Comfort and confidence are of utmost importance at Garrison Bespoke. We’ve traveled the world and met with the best experts in the industry in order to ensure that our clients walk away feeling at ease, knowing they are—in fact—dressed for success. No matter the conditions—rain, shine, or even snow—our clients are readily clothed in the best garments tailored precisely for their lifestyle.

At Garrison, we take pride in building relationships and trust with each and every one of our clients. That’s why, this year, it was crucial that we offer our clients true bespoke suit a because we make whatever the customers asks a bullet-proof suit to keep them safe during their travels to dangerous places for work. We wanted to create a lightweight garment that not only looks professional, but can also act as reliable body armor. The idea was to create a stylish and discreet alternative to wearing a bulky bullet proof vest underneath a suit. This way, our clients, wouldn’t have to worry about looking awkward during meetings, and they can travel to work feeling comfortable, safe, and confident. Accurately showing at Garrison Bespoke we are able make what our competitors can’t as none of them make a true custom bullet proof bespoke suit.

Fire Starter Trick

Light a fire!

Written by Lisa. Posted in CampingTips and Tricks

Last year I talked all about camping and shared my favorite fire starter ever – laundry lint! Camping season is upon us and I have improved my little lint system. The biggest complaint I had about lint is that its messy. I usually keep it in a baggie. But then I saw on Pinterest how someone put lint in a toilet paper tube. I loved the idea so that you had paper too but the problem was it still was messy. So I decided to wrap it in the weekly ads that come in my mail when I’m done with them.
DSC 0016 thumb Light a fire!
Just stuff the lint in the roll, and then roll it up in newspaper, and tuck the ends in. It makes a really tight roll that doesn’t let any of the messy lint out! If you want more paper to light fires just wrap more layers around the toilet paper roll.
Untitled 2 thumb Light a fire!
Someone wrote us a note that said that laundry lint is not recommended for starting fires anymore. I did a little research and actually found that is not entirely accurate. It seems (Do not use)the fabrics that would be toxic tend to be synthetic and synthetic fabrics don’t tend to shed. Regardless, we are pretty much a cotton family around here so I am not too worried. If you wear a lot of synthetic fabrics this is the recommendation he gave:
Scouts now recommended to use saw dust from natural wood and mix it with wax and put in into a cardboard egg container. Break off a section and you have more natural fire starter without all of those toxins.
I think that is great but the only problem is those are not easily accessible materials for me. One of the things I like about the lint, toilet paper rolls, and newspaper is that I am recycling things I usually just throw away into something I actually use. Laundry lint is so flammable and works great for fire starting. With the newspaper and added paper from the toilet paper roll it gives you just the right amount of paper.
Happy camping!

HOW TO: Waterproof, strike-anywhere! matches

HOW TO: Waterproof, strike-anywhere matches

Build a FireBuilding a fire is the most important task when dealing with survival in the wilderness. Be sure to build yours in a sandy or rocky area or near a supply of sand and water as to avoid forest fires. The most common mistakes made by those attempting to build a fire are: choosing poor tinder, failing to shield precious matches from the wind and smothering the flames with too large pieces of fuel. The four most important factors when starting a fire are spark - tinder - fuel - oxygen.

The most common ways to create spark are:

1. Waterproof, strike-anywhere matches are your best bet. Matches may be water-proofed by dipping them in nail polish. Store your matches in a waterproof container.

2. A cigarette lighter is also a good way to produce a spark, with or without fuel.

3. The flint and steel method is one of the oldest and most reliable methods in fire starting. Aim the sparks at a pile of dry tinder to produce a fire.

4. The electric spark produced from a battery will ignite a gasoline dampened rag.

5. Remove half of the powder from a bullet and pour it into the tinder. Next place a rag in the cartridge case of the gun and fire. The rag should ignite and then may be placed into the tinder.

6. Allow the suns rays to pass through a magnifying glass onto the tinder.

Dry grass, paper or cloth lint, gasoline-soaked rags and dry bark are all forms of tinder. Place your tinder in a small pile resembling a tepee with the driest pieces at the bottom. Use a fire starter or strip of pitch if it is available.

It is important to keep in mind that smaller pieces of kindling such as, twigs, bark, shavings and gasoline, are necessary when trying to ignite larger pieces of fuel. Gather fuel before attempting to start your fire. Obviously dry wood burns better and wet or pitchy wood will create more smoke. Dense, dry wood will burn slow and hot. A well ventilated fire will burn best.

Build a ShelterA small shelter which is insulated from the bottom, protected from wind and snow and contains a fire is extremely important in wilderness survival. Before building your shelter be sure that the surrounding area provides the materials needed to build a good fire, a good water source and shelter from the wind.

Wilderness shelters may include:

1. Natural shelters such as caves and overhanging cliffs. When exploring a possible shelter tie a piece of string to the outer mouth of the cave to ensure you will be able to find your way out. Keep in mind that these caves may already be occupied. If you do use a cave for shelter, build your fire near its mouth to prevent animals from entering.

2. Enlarge the natural pit under a fallen tree and line it with bark or tree boughs.

3. Near a rocky coastal area, build a rock shelter in the shape of a U, covering the roof with driftwood and a tarp or even seaweed for protection.

4. A lean-to made with poles or fallen trees and a covering of plastic, boughs, thick grasses or bark is effective to shelter you from wind, rain and snow.

5. A wigwam may be constructed using three long poles. Tie the tops of the poles together and upright them in an appropriate spot. Cover the sides with a tarp, boughs, raingear or other suitable materials. Build a fire in the center of the wigwam, making a draft channel in the wall and a small hole in the top to allow smoke to escape.

6. If you find yourself in open terrain, a snow cave will provide good shelter. Find a drift and burrow a tunnel into the side for about 60 cm (24 in) then build your chamber. The entrance of the tunnel should lead to the lowest level of you chamber where the cooking and storage of equipment will be. A minimum of two ventilating holes are necessary, preferably one in the roof and one in the door.

Living Outside The System And Preparing For Collapse

Living Outside The System

And Preparing For a Coming Collapse

[PersonalLiberty.com]

November 4, 2013
by Bob Livingston
I have written to you many times over the years about food storage and owning some junk silver coins. (U.S. coins minted before 1965 that are 90 percent silver.)
Also, if possible, we should own some small gold coins and have some cash currency, at least enough for 90 days or more.
For sure, we need some guns suited for each member of the family. Each family member should become familiar with his gun and have extra ammunition for each gun.
Barter items are also very important. Use your imagination here. There are many ideas on this such as coffee, dried food such as beans, cigarettes, canned sardines, canned tuna, sugar and stevia, salt, rice, tea, canned soups, cleaning products, soap products, food bars, basic patent medicines, your prescription medicines and many more. A good source for vacuum-packed food is the Mormons.
Living outside the system means total independence from all government and everyday grocery stores and pharmacies. Even your power source (public utilities) should be backed up with a gas or other fuel generator.
We almost certainly face a black depression or a total collapse, and very few people are ready. Why? Most people are so accustomed to the easy life with everything at their fingertips that they cannot imagine a crash of the system leaving people desperate. It is much better to be prepared with the items mentioned above. So what if you lose some food along the way? You can say that you had some insurance. No time to worry about this.
We won’t quit living and enjoying life because we take some money and buy food and emergency supplies. But we will feel more secure. Do not discuss your storage project with anybody.
The breakdown of the system should now be visible to everybody. Government is failing at every level, along with the collapse of morality. In the final stages of any government, there is a breakdown of morality and work ethic. Society becomes “dog-eat-dog.” This is visible now.
Of course, we must remember that the basic cause of the collapse of any government is its currency debasement. This is all too evident in the United States today.
The U.S. is past life support of borrowing money. We live on printing press money. It’s past the runaway stage.
You remember the crash of the housing bubble in 2008? Continued artificially low interest rates by the Federal Reserve are causing a repeat of that malinvestment-fueled calamity. Those who study the charts are seeing housing numbers that “are reminiscent of 2005 and 2006.”
The home price affordability index as tracked by the National Association of Realtors has been below its long-term trend line for four months now. Three economists from Robert Morris University say that history shows this means ahousing bubble is in place. Bubbles inevitably collapse.
Worse is the indication that the United States is now in a hyperinflationary phase. The U.S. dollar is on perilous ground.
It took the United States more than 200 years to reach $8 trillion in “debt.” Since 2006, when helicopter Ben Bernanke began his reckless money printing spree, U.S. “debt” has more than doubled and now stands at $17 trillion.
The dollar has lost 98 percent in real terms since 1913. In just the past four months, it has lost 8 percent to the euro. And it has lost more than 65 percent to the euro since 2000. When it falls against junk currencies like the euro, it is a sure sign the dollar is collapsing.
Inflation is not rising prices, as I have explained before. Inflation is the increase in the money supply and credit. Rising prices are a symptom of inflation.
As the excellent Zero Hedge explains:
Inflation is often mixed up with rising prices, but those are only the consequence of inflation. Essentially, inflation is a monetary phenomenon. It reflects the amount of money in circulation: if that increases, inflation goes up. The ultimate effect of increasing prices is logical, as more units of a variable asset (money) are around in comparison to a fixed asset (e.g. commodities). This results in the need for more units of the former, to get the latter. Those who want to know how much money circulates may want to ask the central banks, as their balance sheet is largely representative. And because America is the supplier of the world reserve currency, the balance sheet of the Federal Reserve is the ultimate measure of inflation.
Fed-baseLooking at the chart of the Fed’s balance sheet above, one immediately notices an inflation explosion. This is monetary inflation, of course, but the effect of this has not really trickled down to our daily lives and there is a good reason for that: The velocity of money collapsed at the same time. (See the chart below.) And that is because of the fact that the money created by the Fed is still stuck in bonds and other debt securities. Moreover, a major part of the money reserves is parked in banks. Consequently, the ratio (the velocity of money) has plummeted in recent years — not because there is less money in circulation, but because more of the money is tied up.
Velocity-of-M2-moneySome people will tell you there is no inflation and cite phony government numbers cooked to keep the collapsing economic conditions under wraps. But based on 1980 measures, inflation is at 8.8 percent, not the 1.5 percent used to cheat seniors out of their proper Social Security cost of living adjustment and interest payments to the Chinese and Japanese at sustainable levels.
Some people will tell you the rising stock market is indicative of a strong economy. Granted, the stock market continues to bounce around all-time highs. But the Zimbabwean stock market went from 2,000 to 40,000 in one year during the early stages of Zimbabwe’s hyperinflation. By the end, Zimbabwe was printing trillion-dollar notes. The people and the system had to use foreign currencies to survive. Of course, money debasement speeds up and becomes exponential in the last months of a regime’s existence.
Currency debasement because of printing press money destroys government and undermines the moral fabric of society and most especially elected Congressmen and Senators. How long now with the present U.S. system?
I am glad that I don’t know that answer. But if you have no preparations for your and your family’s survival as outlined here, this should be your No. 1 concern.
Note from the Editor: As a reader you deserve to know the truth behind the economic disaster America faces. I’ve arranged for readers to get free copies of two books that reveal the sinister plot by the US Government to steal our wealth—a plot Merrill Jenkins, Sr. (the Original Monetary Realist) tried to expose at great risk. His books are hard to find, but these books include rare transcripts from his lectures. Click here for your free copies.

Build a $300 Underground Greenhouse

Build a $300 underground greenhouse for year-round gardening (Video)

Kimberley Mok
Design / Green Architecture
February 22, 2013
Growers in colder climates often utilize various approaches to extend the growing season or to give their crops a boost, whether it's coldframeshoop houses or greenhouses.
Greenhouses are usually glazed structures, but are typically expensive to construct and heat throughout the winter. A much more affordable and effective alternative to glass greenhouses is the walipini (an Aymara Indian word for a "place of warmth"), also known as an underground or pit greenhouse. First developed over 20 years ago for the cold mountainous regions of South America, this method allows growers to maintain a productive garden year-round, even in the coldest of climates.
Here's a video tour of a walipini that even incorporates a bit of interior space for goats:

How a Walipini works and how to build one

© Benson Institute
It's a pretty intriguing set-up that combines the principles of passive solar heating with earth-sheltered building. But how to make one? From American sustainable agriculture non-profit Benson Institute comes this enlightening manual on how a walipini works, and how to build it:
The Walipini utilizes nature’s resources to provide a warm, stable, well-lit environment for year-round vegetable production. Locating the growing area 6’- 8’ underground and capturing and storing daytime solar radiation are the most important principles in building a successful Walipini.
The Walipini, in simplest terms, is a rectangular hole in the ground 6 ‛ to 8’ deep covered by plastic sheeting. The longest area of the rectangle faces the winter sun -- to the north in the Southern Hemisphere and to the south in the Northern Hemisphere. A thick wall of rammed earth at the back of the building and a much lower wall at the front provide the needed angle for the plastic sheet roof. This roof seals the hole, provides an insulating airspace between the two layers of plastic (a sheet on the top and another on the bottom of the roof/poles) and allows the sun's rays to penetrate creating a warm, stable environment for plant growth.
This earth-sheltered greenhouse taps into the thermal mass of the earth, so that much less energy is needed to heat up the walipini's interior than an aboveground greenhouse. Of course, there are precautions to take in waterproofing, drainage and ventilating the walipini, while aligning it properly to the sun -- which the manual covers in detail.
Best of all, according to the Benson Institute, their 20-foot by 74-foot walipnifield model out in La Paz cost around $250 to $300 only, thanks to the use of free labour provided by owners and neighbours, and the use of cheaper materials like plastic ultraviolet (UV) protective sheeting and PVC piping.
Cheap but effective, the underground greenhouse is a great way for growers to produce food year-round in colder climates. More over at the Benson Instituteand the Pure Energy Systems Wiki.
